A field guide to living an intentional, creative and fun life — with children.

“The art of mothering is to teach the art of living to children.” – Elaine Heffner

My name is Shawn Ledington Fink. I am a Mindful Mama and Writer. And, like you, I’m just trying to be the best parent that I can be to my twin daughters.

I am a student of many topics and a questioner of many more.

I draw inspiration from poets, bloggers, Buddhists and other spiritual leaders — all with the hopes of encouraging other parents to be the change they wish to see in the world.

My mission: To encourage and inspire parents to join this Awake journey and show undivided attention to those they love, the dreams they aspire to achieve and this lovely one chance we get at life.

I’m passionate about fun, creative and peaceful parenting. I love finding unique solutions to everday parenting problems.

I hope for only one thing each day: To raise kind, peaceful and creative children.

And to be kind, peaceful and creative myself.

You can learn more about me at The ABC’s of Awesomely Awake.

And then there are some awards people have given. I am honored they thought of us here. Check those out here, here, and here .

“When you love someone as much as I love my husband and daughters, you make time for it. I feel the same for writing.”

Could not agree more. I’m right there with you – glad I found your blog!

I saw this TED talk and thought you would love it just as much. I think shame really feeds into our desire to “be it all and do it all”. We use crafts with our kids and perfectly planned birthday parties to fight against the insecurities of “Am I good enough?” And when we address our shame and embrace our vulnerability we check out of our “to do list” world and embrace a lifestyle of mindfulness, appreciation and peace. Link: http://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_listening_to_shame.html

Check out her other TED talk too. It’s also pretty good.
